Re: Gold coast storm

We are about to move house to an apartment with sea views, and I told the kids I couldn't wait for the first thunder and lightening storm so I could watch it from the balcony!

We haven't had a...

Re: what is the weather like in the Gold Coast?

All I can say is the weather is a bit unusual at the moment

What happens is we have el nino and la nina influences here from the Pacific and we are in the one that produces wet right...

Re: Why so many "gated communities"??

Someone else mentioned, the body corporate! If you are in a good one with good facilities it will be high and by laws will be annoying! Very good for renting, I wouldn't own one personally.

Better...

Re: South Gold Coast - good areas!

Have you tried looking at maps.google.com.au and then doing the satellite view or the even the street views now.

This is a great way to see what places really look like and what is around them.

Re: A couple of days in Brisbane / Gold Coast - Places to stay...?

I'm biased - I love Australia - I have lived in Sydney, Melbourne and the Gold Coast. I personally think it would be hard not to find something to like here!

And the weather - I saw beautiful...

Re: A couple of days in Brisbane / Gold Coast - Places to stay...?

That's great - you do realise it will be quite hot and steamy in Qld! I personally love the heat, but coming from the UK winter you may be quite blown away by it... it does tend to get less humid as...

Re: A couple of days in Brisbane / Gold Coast - Places to stay...?

Hi,
My recommendation for an overnight stop would be to get to Coffs or Port Macquarie on the way down to Sydney because they are closer to halfway! That's how I would see it. But Byron could be a...

Re: Gold coast rentals

Debs, Thanks for pointing out Parkwood, cannot believe I did not mention that one as it is so close to Griffith! I guess the other option is Molendinar but not sure how many one or two bed places...

Re: Gold coast rentals

Totally agree about renting somewhere site unseen - you can get holiday rentals on realestate.com.au they have a section. Plus when you get here there are places in www.seqrents.com.au that are not...

Smile Re: Where to live if working at Gold Coast Hospital

When we first arrived here we rented in Arundel which is a bit closer than Pacific Pines, if distance is a concern. It was a quick 12 minute run to the Hospital. We had a dog, which is also hard to...

Re: gold coast resorts??

Hi,
I would say it depends upon what you are looking for.

Surfers is busy and touristy. Broadbeach is a bit more classy, has great restaurants, but less attractions close by - I think you need to...

Re: It's been a beautiful day here on the gold coast

I've lived in Australia since 1989 and I still wake up each day and marvel at being here!

The shine just never seems to go away!

Re: Paradise Resort Gold Coast

That's really good to hear - sounds like the multimillion dollar refurbishment has improved things... I have always been disappointed when going in there, but it is popular.

Re: NSW / QLD House Prices?

It is so hard to say, as house prices vary from suburb to suburb and even within suburbs depending upon the type of property.

Surfers Paradise itself is mainly made up of holiday units and there...

Re: sunshine coast or gold coast

A few places to look in Gold Coast area could be
Robina, Worongary, Currumbin, Nerang, Gilston, Mt Nathan, Mt Tamborine and Eagle Heights, Coomera, Pimpama, Oxenford, Wongawallan. These are all...

Re: Paradise Resort Gold Coast

I concur with these other replies. Paradise Resort is a family resort, which everyone I know says looks way better in the photos than in reality - hence the building work! Actually, the new...

I've been in Oz since 1989, Sydney, Melbourne and now Gold Coast. Gold Coast since 2004. Lived in Arundel first and now Labrador. Been really lucky with that.

Re: Events in Gold Coast/Brisbane November 2008?

Do you really want to know what us gold coastians do on the weekend? Well, Aussies are sport mad, so if you have kids I can almost bet you are at some kind of sporting event! Year round there is...

Re: Events in Gold Coast/Brisbane November 2008?

So many things to do.

Pan Pacific Masters Games are on whilst you are in the coast, not that you'll want to watch us old foggies attempting to look good whilst doing sports, but that is why there...

Re: Brisbane CBD - Robina Equidistant

Hope Island is a nice area and lots of new places and some waterfront properties. There are villas, gated communities and some apartments too. If you liked the idea of Robina, then I think Hope...

Re: Brisbane CBD - Robina Equidistant

This is such a hard one. By the way maps.google.com.au (http://maps.google.com.au) I find to be more accurate on travel times than whereis.com.au which is odd!

The good thing about Robina is that...

Re: Drunks Trouble in Brisbane?gold coast????

Yeah, well I was going to mention that, but I figured that the original question asker wasn't likely to be! Otherwise the question would have been asked differently!
