We live in Sweden which is very safe and everyone speaks English. Property prices out in the countryside are very cheap. You can buy a whole farm for less than the cost of a house in England.

I'm sorry, but you are wrong on this, with regards to taking a dog back to the UK. The booster has to be given every 3 years for the passport to remain valid. Our passports were issued 2 years ago...
