This is Trevor. Five years old. Brought to the UK last December after 3 years in a dog shelter where he...

Here's where I'm at now.

Still in Wiltshire, still in the same village. My freelance gig turned into a full-time job as a Senior Editor. I work...

Re: It's been a while (back 5 and a half years)

Thanks. I will...

Re: It's been a while (back 5 and a half years)

Thanks. And, yes, we were extremely grateful for the NHS. The support we received was second to none. And, luckily, we have a very good local hospice and they also offered a lot of support.

It is...

Re: It's been a while (back 5 and a half years)

Thanks. It's strange but nice to be back. Good to see so many familiar faces. It's rare for a forum to have members that stick around for a long time. :)

I'm not optimistic about finding a job....

It's been a while (back 5 and a half years)

I thought I'd check in. It's been a while since I was here.

It's been a tough few years. I think my last post mentioned that my husband was diagnosed with Oesophageal cancer in September 2013....

Re: Planning Permission and Building Regs - vocabulary help, please!

I see you're in Arizona, which is where I used to work!
Unless you're in a conservation area of so me description, you don't have to worry about external alterations being in keeping, unless you're...

Re: Planning Permission and Building Regs - vocabulary help, please!

Just phone your local planning department. A planner will be able to tell you what the requirements are from the zoning code. It depends on what 'zone' you live in as to what the set back...

Any Darwin peeps around?

Hiya,

I'm a long time member of British Expats, although now back in the UK. I'm currently writing a novel, part of which is set in Darwin. I tend to research as I go along and I'm just about to...

Re: Nearly Two Years update.

Hi Almo.

It was pure luck. I am a published author. (E-Pubs). I was bemoaning our impoverished state to my friend, who also happens to work for that publisher and she suggested that I write to the...

Nearly Two Years update.

Where the hell does the time go?

We've been back in the UK for nearly 2 years. When I last posted, I mentioned that I'd finally found a job. Unfortunately, the job wasn't as advertised. You cannot...

Re: How long to pass test and buy vehicle in PHX?

Not sure about driving in Phoenix being easy on a car. I went through at least three sets of tires in 8 years because the hot roads eat the tread.

Also, when you go to the DMV, make sure you have...

We've been back here for about 16 months now.
Last time I posted an update I had a job. Now I don't! What was meant to be a nice little part time job turned out to be the most stressful job I ever...

Re: To those who have moved back, whats it really like ?

I used to live there! We also stayed there for a couple of weeks when we first came back and, yes, Wokingham is a friendly little town in spite of its affluence. Likewise, I've found the people here...

Re: To those who have moved back, whats it really like ?

We've been back since August and had no trouble adjusting at all. We'd been away for eight and a half years and, yes, some things have changed but we get by.
Perhaps we're lucky because we're in a...
