You might want to get a copy of the book "What colour is my Parachute" I think that it is by Micheal Bolles. I am sure that you can get a copy on Amazon. Anyways, it will give you a better insight...

You might need to consider where you can get work to support yourself. Living in the countryside is all very nice but often employment is hard to come by.

I guess it all depends on your preferences and expectations. Basement apartments are not everyone's cup of tea and the maintenance fee is difficult to justify for some without the gym and pool etc....
