Agree you dont need it as id but I have found it great for acceptance everywhere and it is convenient to carry v a passport.

1) Make sure you get a driving licence - you use it everywhere as id
2) SAT NAV - invaluable when you 1st arrive
3) TFN - as already mentioned on thread
4) Medicare cards

Suburb has a lot of newish houses at reasonable rents. Near to Sandgate for the beach and decent train links close by.
However, if you know you are going to be at the MAter then there are many more...

Big 4 I would recommend, worth paying the 2 year membership and getting the 10% discount , payback in 2 stays.

Of the areas round there definitely Shorncliffe or Sandgate. Other option slightly further is Redcliffe (especially with new bridge opening tomorrow)

Most teams require a registration as it usually includes insurance, there are loads of teams though, if you are south west Brisbane and over 35 give me a shout and you can be playing next week

If you can get iinet - highly recommend it - i have the ADSL 2 - they have just upped the quota this week as well

VOIP is top quality as well (and v cheap)

We also picked Sherwood for the same reasons as the other poster on this thread. State primary schools perfom well and the ' walk to' everywhere is a bonus.

Just been doing more research on iinet site, seems they can organise connection as well so for speed and ease - going to see if i can cancel Telstra tomorrow and get it all via iinet.
