I did not suggest "owners of illegal properties have ALL been idiots", I merely suggested that some of these bad experiences could probably have been avoided given a little more time for due...

No, haven't purchased property there but am doing my homework to minimise as much as possible the risk when we do decide to put the money on the table. I agree there is always an element of risk but...

And I could see you falling into that purchase without knowing about the issues if you just turned up, viewed the apartment, used agents recommend solicitor and paid the money etc.. but isn't it...

No, not overlooked at all, I am fully aware that corrupt officials are rife (just like anywhere but more so in Spain). I am certainly not saying ALL of these people have not yet used common sense...

These stories do seem to keep cropping up but I wonder how many could have been avoided if further research had been done before making the purchase? I have seen a few of these horror story TV shows...

As long as your phone has wifi then you could use it on free wifi locations with no charges from your provider as it's not using there network in any way. If your phone doesnt have wifi built in then...
