I think it is personal preference, the only thing I would say is that there is no guarantee that the visa will come through quickly and obviously it then gives you less time to get into Oz.

I believe you can but you need to be there by 8.30am as they only let you in for a couple of hours. We rang and were told not to go in person but to send them registered post with a registered post...
