Re: Suburbs in Adelaide

Really depends what you're after. Beach, hills, near city, outer suburbs. Do you want to be able to walk places or happy to drive? Are you looking for a bargain or do you have money to spend?

Re: Adelaide - don't be shy!

^ You're entitled to your opinion but being snarky about it only diminishes your credibility. You come across looking like you simply have an axe to grind.

Re: what is adelaide like

Yes, well said Wendy.

I think you've summed up what has gone wrong in this thread. It's not the differing opinions that's the problem, but the nasty way they are flung about.

By all means...

Re: what is adelaide like

Alright, I'll bite (again )

Your arguments pretty much rely on exclamation marks..where's the substance? Why should people be swayed by what you have to say if you don't really say anything?

Re: what is adelaide like

Lol, fair enough. I congratulate you on your escape.

Well, I think I'm out Sprintman. Your passionate loathing of SA has me beat!

But you can now say you have finally met a South Australian who...

Re: what is adelaide like

I think he's telling South Australians to stay in SA because his area (which appears to be northern NSW?) is being flooded by SA refugees.

Anyway, regardless of any confusion over this particular...

Re: what is adelaide like

Actually, you know what, Sprintman, I apologise - I have no idea what your "type" is, in actual fact, and shouldn't be assuming I do..

Re: what is adelaide like

I also class myself as a South Australian. Currently, I'm abroad but I will be returning, and they don't even have to pay me :D

Sprintman, you seem to be an uptight type..

Re: Melbourne/Adelaide/Sunshine Coast???

A most passionate response, you clearly love Melbourne.

I did a quick Google and could not find a reference to the Yarra Valley as Australia's representative in a top-ten world wine regions list....

To the OP,

Well, you have certainly had a reply or two that you might not have been expecting!

Rest assured, there are plenty of intelligent and thoughtful people out there who do, in fact,...

Re: Why did you pick the city/area of Australia that you live or heading for?

Do I wish I was back in Adelaide for this? That's a YES from me..

I always felt there was enough going on in Adelaide to keep me busy. I wonder if it could be the lowish density of people that...

Re: Why did you pick the city/area of Australia that you live or heading for?

No worries, that's what I assumed.

It's amazing the way a few throwaway catchphrases can seal a city's reputation. They take on a life of their own and distort reality. And Australia seems to be...

Re: Area on/near coast of Adelaide

Haven't been back in a few years, so others might have more current info but here's some thinking material anyway:

You might like to include Henley Beach, Semaphore, Glenelg area and Brighton in...

Re: New Years Eve-Adelaide

Temp housing in the CBD? Sweet!

There's usually a free street party and fireworks in the city and at Glenelg. Can't find links at the moment.

There's also going to be a multi-stage event at...

Re: any expats around bridgewater/stirling nr Adelaide

Hiya,

Just thought I'd bump your post, as I believe there are members living in the Adelaide Hills, who perhaps haven't seen your question.

Most people I have met who live in the hills love it....

Re: Perth or Adelaide

Adelaide was given the name 'City of churches' due to religious freedom, not religious fantacism.

Don't let me stand in the way of a good Adelaide bashing though..

Re: MELBOURNE OR ADELAIDE

I have never heard Melbourne's claim to being 'cultural capital' qualified, it's just put out there and believed to be gospel.

Adelaide hosts Australia's most respected Festival of Arts...

Re: adelaide suburbs

I agree with the above. The eastern suburbs are very nice. True they are not cheap in general, but don't dismiss them without at least having a look.

I tend to lean towards a more modest house in...
