i bought a step up transformer from Maplins prior to our arrival in july 07. its a 350w unit but powers my 600w stereo without any hassles (so far!) it does'nt hum at all!

i think thats a wise move! i think the general consensus is that you don't actually need you PR card but take it anyway just in case!

and of course i'm not disagreeing with black and white legislation but the guys on the ground are not always up to speed on the latest rules.
a friend recently (2 weeks ago) came back into canada...
