More problem with compatibility of PAL / NTSC signals , although most can take both.

Would we not need a conversion box to go from PAL to NTSC? As I have read we do need to do that, but do we?

alot of newer european TV's will, but it'll be in the specifcation part of the manual as will its voltage/hz
trying to find a box that will do NTSC->PAL on the fly is a waste of effort

I don't think you can use a UK TV in Canada unless you are going to use it for your PAL movie collection. Canada is NTSC..

I am fully aware that Canada is NTSC that is why I asked above if I should have a conversion box as well as a upstepper.

Our old Toshiba 32" (CRT) that we brought over in 2005 and was an old model when we bought it in 2004 and it could handle both, so I'd be very surprised if modern TV's (unless v.cheap) are not able to cope with NTSC aswell as PAL, but I haven't looked into it at all...

On the other hand PAL compatibility with modern Canadian TVs is rather more patchy. My brothers hotel room has a modern Samsung LCD flat panel TV on the wall...It wont accept the PAL signal from his camcorder
