just buy an Oz sim for your phone. You can get one on Optus for $30, but it gives you $30 credit, so effectively it's free. You just top it up at any newsagent/woolworths etc.

No, it's fine as long as you are sensible - ie not on a hot day, windows left open, preferably water left for them, car parked in shade, and for only a short period.

Yes, visa just comes in the form of an email which you copy and keep hold of (you don't have anything put into your passport)
