We have temporary visas, got our Oz driving licences from Rockingham WA, filled in forms, only test was eyesight. They take your photo and send licences in post few days later. Was a long queue...

Only 4 months for sponsorship and business visa - two and half years to sell property and UK business.

We were granted our visa in May 06 (State sponsored 163), we had to enter Australia before May 07 and it expires in May 2011, so we have to meet the business criteria as laid out in our sponsorship...

You have to enter the country within a year, but it can just be for a visit. You can come back at a later date to stay permanently. Lot of people have had problems selling property in time to meet...

We opened a po box in Uk with a comany called MBE, they held our mail till we emailed them with an address in Oz. It was a bit expensive - don't know whether Royal Mail could do a similar thing.

No we didn't give a date cos we wanted transfer asap. You could give a date but you wouldn't know what the exchange rate would be. Maybe you can write the letter and then phone to instruct them on...

We transferred a chunk of money before we came using HIFX, they then sent us forms to open HIFX account in Sydney. To transfer rest of money from UK we have had to send Barclays a letter from Oz so...

We are on temporary business visa and although they state you are not entitled to Medicare we registered at Medicare office and seem to be entitled same as everybody else.

You are right it is not pretty. But if you look the other way towards Palm Beach Rockingham is just as pretty as Mandurah in my opinion.

I've seen dolphins in morning, afternoon and evening in several different places along beachfront. I can see them from my living room!
