Re: Stay in UK or Go back to Walnut?

Why would you want to spend time with people that are so eager for you to fail? Leaving them behind doesn't seem like much of a loss to me. I'm assuming from your first post that your kids are US...

Re: Let's talk about cars

I had the cheapest of the cheap TomTom about 13 years ago, they used to offer life time updates and support until they decided it was too much hassle and told a bunch of people they were SOL and to...

Re: Let's talk about cars

Yeah but I ruled out it being a 20 year old BMW when you mentioned push button start as although the technology has been around for a while I don't think it was a particularly common feature even in...

Re: Let's talk about cars

Your link says it's a Porsche Taycan 4S electric sedan. It's probably fake noise pumped into the car, possibly outside too.

Re: New adventures

Is it an optical illusion or is it sticking out past the wall? If it is that's the thing that would drive me nuts as I'd inevitable walk in to it at some point.

Re: Let's talk about cars

It's one thing driving it, it's another thing completely living with it day to day. I'm 6ft 5 and learnt to drive in an old Fiesta and a Corsa and managed fine but now I have Chevy Silverado I feel...

Re: Price of gas update...

People like my wife who just go where it's convenient and don't even bother looking at the price.

I filled up for $3.45 a gallon at Sam's this weekend. It's still $3.75 at my local gas station...

Re: E-sim

I was under the impression you'd just get a sim in the UK and convert it to an e-sim. When I got my phone last month they upgraded the wrong line and it was e-sim only so it had the wrong number. I...

Re: Water heater replacement

That doesn't have the right connection to connect to the outlet, you need a male thread. Honestly your original plan to just go to your drip pan would be fine especially as you already have your pan...

Re: Water heater replacement

Is it? I thought the valve releasing the water would be enough without having to shut the heater off. I got the sensor wet whilst installing it and it was a pain drying it out with the tank empty...

Re: Water heater replacement

Not with mine, there are all water sensors at the bottom of my heater that shut the heater and water off in the event it detects water so I have to have the pipe go directly to the drainage pipe for...

Re: Water heater replacement

Do they mention the brand and model of the water heater? With some of them the warranty isn't worth the paper it's written on. Not to mention they vary wildly in price.

Re: Price of gas update...

And there's me complaining that gas in my town is $4.55 yet where I work it's $4.39 and my local Sam's Club has it for $4.28.

Re: Let's talk about cars

Only if she remembers. Usually it's something like "Oh that reminds me the service light came on in the car last month".

Re: Let's talk about cars

My wife is the same except she knows what the light means she just has absolutely no intention of doing anything about it.

Re: Jif peanut butter recall

I don't eat the stuff so there's no chance I'd have got it, the wife on the other hand is always complaining about a stomach cramps, diarrhea, headache etc as she's one of those people that get sick...

Re: Jif peanut butter recall

I always find food recalls odd as half the time the food was consumed months a go. Case in point with this Jif recall I have a jar of crunchy and a jar of smooth that are both part of this recall but...

Re: Free Covid Tests in Mail - Gov't Site OPEN NOW!

I wasn't even aware you could get more than 1 set but noticed my insurance company are now encouraging me to order my second set, I guess that's to stop me from sending them the bill for any I may...

Re: Let's talk about cars

I was always told they require UV light to work so they're no good for driving as the windshield filters most UV light out.

Re: Recognition of Potential IRS Facial Recognition Ramifications

I do have a beard and hats often cover my ears which is why it would be less convenient for me to use than just a fingerprint.

Re: Recognition of Potential IRS Facial Recognition Ramifications

One of the main reasons I'm in no rush to upgrade my work phone is because Apple got rid of the fingerprint scanner for facial recognition which I just don't trust to work reliably, especially as I...

Re: 3D printer

I've always liked the idea of a 3D printer but then I remember how much I hate printers and how they always go batshit crazy when you need them so I'm somewhat wary of them.
