Re: PSS/Chess Removals - review

I'm still waiting for [email protected] covering PSS breakages to pay out for claim ongoing since July. Yes, very evasive, they just leave me hanging.

Re: Return to the UK

Perhaps so if you got there a few years ago, but those arriving now have missed the gold rush.

Re: Return to the UK

We are far from wealthy, but I think you may be partly right on that score. The poorer the standard of living you leave behind the more readily you'll accept what Aus has to offer. Speak to...

Re: moving reluctant children

Migration to Aus has been a nightmare for our 14year old son Had major bullying issues in state schools, and we couldn't afford private so he ended up going out on work placement instead of school....

Re: Licences for Carpenters

ABN is Australian Business Number.

Carpenters are definitely licensed in Qld and NSW, and definitely not licensed in WA. Don't know about the other states.

Re: Do any of you go Horse Riding in Oz?

Hi,

I'll try to be as objective as possible in giving you the run-down on horses in Aus. Obviously Aus is so big that different regions have different pros and cons, and also as riders we all...

Re: wanaroo / jondaloop area's Perth

If by 'reasonable' you mean reasonably priced, beware - cheap property is cheap for good reason. Either in a rough area, facing the wrong way, or missing out on the sea breezes so they suffer the...

Re: Indy Fever

We're going Friday night, cheapest night for families.

It's Indy Fever all over the Gold Coast, plastic racing cars & chequered flags in many shops, and it's the topic of conversation on the...

Re: Time to go

Damn!! I hope this doesn't mean you won't be posting on the Aus forum again. You're one of the sensible balanced ones who sees life in true colours and tells it as it is fair and square.

Hope...

Re: Come to Perth, you'll love it if....

Good on you Scorpio1. That's a good truthful "tell-it-as-it-is" post. I take it your rose-tints are smashed into 1000 pieces by now.

It's a shame that so many want to shoot you down just for...

Re: Building setbacks

You never know, you might get lucky with your appeal, but I'd say most councils would be reluctant to open the flood gates. If they say 'no' you have 2 choices here:

1) build up instead of out...

Re: Employment with Education Queensland

Hi,
Yes, it's a really frustrating system here. Even when you get a permanent job they'll probably want you on 1 year's probation followed by a 2nd year probation before you get a confirmed...

Re: UK Family allowance

You tell them. It's very risky to not tell them, as when you get to Aus you get a tax file number, and the Aus tax computer talks to the UK tax computer.

Re: Proof of Employment!

Send certified copies of any historic paperwork you have such as payslips or P45's, P60's, offer letters, contracts relating to those jobs.

If you haven't got any paperwork as proof (and it helps...

Re: UK Family allowance

UK Child Benefit stops 12 weeks after you leave the UK.

But you get Aus family tax benefit instead (go to Centrelink for forms). You get a small amount once a fortnight, but if you're on a low...

Yeah, it's really cool isn't it.

But here's a thought for you - if that level of imagery is downloadable for free to the general public, just think what detail the spy satellites must be able to...

Re: Gold Coast People

No, that's Currumbin RSL, a bit further up the creek! Currumbin SLSC is very popular though, and gives a great vantage point to watch the whales at the moment.

Re: Where on the Northern NSW Coast?

There are lots of lovely places along all parts of the NSW coast.

Tweed at the Northern end currently has a HUGE draw for the retiring Sydney baby boomers, so house prices reflect this. But a...

Re: Be aware when packing your container..

We had horse equipment, which left the UK clean enough to eat your dinner off,...
