The local equivalents to Sage, as a medium size accounting packages are QuickBooks and MYOB. Both straightforward to use and very similar to Sage.

No, no exams at all. 'Mutual recognition' means, basically,that you have to prove that you're CIMA qualified (by examination), have no disciplinary issues and are paid up-to-date.

Just read the book before you go. Takes half an hour and well worth it. Common sense will help but you must get the responsibilities of citizens right or you fail.

We had the same problem but we put our applications in immediately after passing the test and we were told we didn't need anyone else to verify our identities as we were sat in front of a citizenship...

Alan, you're quite correct, a Pty Ltd company does not need one but if it chooses to have one, they must be ordinarily resident. :)

I've had no issues with age and I'm over 45. But then I've had 25 years of experience which obviously helps.

The point about work experience for both CIMA membership and the visa is a good one...

Interesting that. We were approved on 9 Oct and had our ceremony on 4 Feb so around 16 weeks. I hadn't realised we could try and do it earlier but then it's academic now.

This is very interesting. I went on to the CPA website to find out more but can only find an application for CGA Canada members, not CIMA members.

Can anyone point me in the right direction...
