Re: Quake warning for the north island?

Well, yes, it does make some sense. The 'pulling force' as you name it is gravity. The strength of the gravitational force acting between 2 objects does increase the nearer two objects are together....

Re: BBQ Gas bottles, New Zealand to UK

Thanks for the replies Beedubya and Concretepump. I think we'll probably just sell our New Zealand bottle and then buy a new one back in England. It looks like that is certainly the easiest option...

BBQ Gas bottles, New Zealand to UK

Hi there,
I want to take my fabby New Zealand BBQ home with me.
I've been told that I need to purge the gas bottle and get a certificate to prove it's been done.
Has anyone out there done this and...

Re: Arrived Safe and Sound

If you are overlooking the estuary it's probably Bellevue, but that's OK! Suburb boundaries are very hazy!

Re: Arrived Safe and Sound

Hi Angela,

Welcome to Tauranga! :)

Otumoetai is a nice area on the whole so you should be good. If you are renting a house sometimes the agent allows the area boundaries to become very fuzzy so...

Re: Why exactly do kiwis emigrate to Australia?

I really think you are wrong about this janek, 'Kiwi' is certainly not derogatory in any way.

New Zealanders refer to themselves as Kiwis.

Re: Why exactly do kiwis emigrate to Australia?

I've got to ask this, so please don't take offence:

You joined the forum this month. Why would you think it has been done to death, and shouldn't the original question be of interest to you?

Re: Shipping costs????

Not sure if these are good or not as we shipped a lot more than that. What we did though was to go back the highest quoter and tell them what the others were quoting and asked them to at least match...

Re: Why exactly do kiwis emigrate to Australia?

I can't really see what the problem is. THR may very well do this a lot (I'm not sure, I don't come on here that much now), but it is still a very good point/question and as JaneK said well thought...

Re: Why exactly do kiwis emigrate to Australia?

Look carefully again, I even quoted what I was responding to!

OP means 'Other Poster', doesn't it?

Every one is so darn touchy on here. You've reminded me why I don't post often! Blimey even...

Re: Why exactly do kiwis emigrate to Australia?

If you look carefully I was responding to one of the replies, not the original thread.

There are surely plenty of Kiwis on here (and by that I mean expats who have become citizens of New Zealand...

Re: Why exactly do kiwis emigrate to Australia?

The point I am making is that the OP is assuming that every one on the New Zealand board is so happy that they wouldn't move to Australia if you paid them.

Clearly this isn't the case.

That, I...

Re: Why exactly do kiwis emigrate to Australia?

Why are so many people getting beaten up on here just for asking a question?
THR is just asking why NZ'ers move to Australia. That seems like a relevant question for the NZ forum to to me.

Re: Transfering money from NZ to UK. ?..

I use XETrade, they are good. Don't use banks, you will get a MUCH better rate from one of the currency dealing houses.

Re: The Joys of Getting a NZ Passport

How many times have you been stopped then?
The more points on your license the more likely you are to be accepted. It show's that you have embraced the culture and have made an effort to fit in!...

Re: The Joys of Getting a NZ Passport

I thank you! :D
Seriously though, they are just trying to justify the $17000 fee for your application by making it look like they have to do something!

Re: NIghtmare! Completely Baffled!

Depending on your finance agreement you might even save yourself some money on the interest payments. The problem goes...

Re: NIghtmare! Completely Baffled!

If you have it on finance (HP), you don't own it until you have paid your last installment. The lender owns the car until that point, which is why you can't take it out of the country. That is why it...

Re: solicitor in Tauranga

We also use Annan Law and specifically Krythia Scott, and would highly recommend them.

It cost around $1000 for a non mortgage purchase, add a few hundred with a mortgage.
