Default BBQ Gas bottles, New Zealand to UK

Hi there,
I want to take my fabby New Zealand BBQ home with me.
I've been told that I need to purge the gas bottle and get a certificate to prove it's been done.
Has anyone out there done this and where did you get it done?
How much does it cost and is it worth doing, rather than buying a new bottle in the UK?
Thanks!
Mark

hi i would have thought , you just change regulator then you can use gas in uk, we took a gas fire from uk to tauranga but would not work some thing to do with valve would burn as if the bottle was nearly empty

I am not sure of seafreight regulations but for airfreight you will definitely need to get this certificate from a company specialising in Dangerous Goods.

In Australia there are a few companies such as Dangerous Goods Management, Dangerous Goods Compliance, etc, probably the same in NZ, just check the yellow pages.

Thanks for the replies Beedubya and Concretepump. I think we'll probably just sell our New Zealand bottle and then buy a new one back in England. It looks like that is certainly the easiest option (and probably the cheapest as this is New Zealand we are talking about!).

in the UK I dont' think you will find a place to fill it anyway. You just go to a local shop and the first time you pay a deposit for the bottle and then every fill you just exchange it for a full one
