I did exactly that. Went over in April this year to use my visa before it expired, then came back to the UK a week later to finalise our move. Moved over officially in July.

My POE was on our two year anniversary so when I showed the CBO my wedding certificate, she stamped my passport with IR-1. My PR card has now arrived but it has the CR-1 classification on it.
