OK, so I'm in Hong Kong now - arrived late last night. First impressions coming down over the city to land, and on the Airport Express train:-

- Wow, it's a proper real city (as a Londoner, a...

Re: Quick update on shipping back to UK from Aus

I head home tomorrow at around lunchtime, although I won't be in the UK until Wednesday. 'Home' is currently my parents' house in SW London.

Quick update on shipping back to UK from Aus

I'm using Jetta (www.jetta.com.au) based on suggestions from this forum, and the delivery guy took my 3 boxes a couple of hours ago.

They are shipped by air to my home airport (heathrow), 2 hours...

Oddly, we seem to basically be in agreement but just be in a different position in life. I am paid well, not fantastically but well, and can afford to live in Britain despite it's huge costs. I...

Re: expense is relative!

This has been my experience too. I'm an IT contractor, and found that I was working a basic 40 hour week in Melbourne (as opposed to 35 or 37.5 in the UK), and I still ended up doing overtime when...

Re: UK Expensive????

Hmm, I'm not sure I agree with all of this (are you converting dollars to pounds with your rent estimates?), but my basic feeling is that only housing in Aus is significantly cheaper than in the UK,...
