Post Open Audition for a Panto in Central NJ

Apologies to Moderators if there is a better spot for this to go. If so, please let me know and I'll move it there.

A little backstory. My wife was hanging out with a couple of British Expat...

Re: Expats - Listen Up!

Thanks for the heads-up, Englishmum. I already use the LBC app to listen to my favorite shows there (got my American wife addicted to it, too!), and usually play Radio 4 or 5 from my PC through the...

Re: Old-Fashioned Stuff That Still Functions

In the "not old, but old-fashioned" pile... I've always hated disposable razors and even worse are the prices now of razors with replaceable head-catridges... $37 on Amazon for 12 blades that are...

Re: "HOLA!!!" - John Leguizamo To Play "Del Boy" In US

That's what I'm thinking. Sanford & Son, All In The Family, Three's Company, The Office, Shameless... All pretty successful adaptations of classic British shows, whether you like them or not. Of...

Re: "HOLA!!!" - John Leguizamo To Play "Del Boy" In US

The British one wasn't really all that funny after the second series anyway. Chances are it'll go out with a different name, different characters and be totally Americanized. It's not like anyone's...

Re: Slowly assimilating.

For the Aluminium/Aluminum thing, both ways are right, and I use them interchangeabley, as i do with most of my bilingualism, to confuse the locals wherever I am.

Re: Trip to NJ Sat to look for possible areas to live

This is one of those things that could just be a lot of downed trees and water damage, or we could all be out of power for a week. No idea how it will pan out at this time. I've planned to sit around...

Re: Milburn versus Chatham Rental & Elementary Schools

Actually, I choose not to work there. It's such a soul-destroying place that I'd rather commute 1.5 hours each way to Long Island City than drive 20 minutes each way to that place...

Re: Milburn versus Chatham Rental & Elementary Schools

My company has an office across from Short Hills Mall (or rather, The Mall at Short Hills, because it's posh). It's yet another reason why I hate working at that office, despite its location cutting...

Re: Milburn versus Chatham Rental & Elementary Schools

As always, our frames of reference are shopping mall-based.

Re: Milburn versus Chatham Rental & Elementary Schools

I live in Maplewood and TBH have never heard that about Millburn, and I live right on the border between the two towns. Chatham, however, does have a reputation for being lily white, though I don't...

Re: Why did I keep it.

Funny. I found mine yesterday while working on the basement from February 1999 and was wondering the same thing, do I chuck it or frame it?

Re: U.S. newspaper writting style hard to follow.

TV news cracks me up, especially cable. "Now here's what's happening in our new segment Around The World In 90 Seconds"...

90 Seconds? You're a 24 hour news station. It's not like you don't have...

Cheers. I'll pass that along to my wife, who as one of her many jobs, writes an astrology column every morning, based on advice she'd like to give to her mates.

Expect to see "Libra: Go see...

Re: "The Pub" - Louisville, Kentucky

Re: How often do you call your parents in the UK?

Once every couple of months or so. Usually when the missus reminds me. my family's always been kind of close, but not that close, so we only get in contact every so often, and then it's mostly...

Re: Was in my first tornado last night.

Holy quick-thinking, ABY-man! Glad to hear you made it through that. If it happened to me, I'd lose about 50 pounds, all of it brown.

Re: Fox Soccer Channel in HD on Comcast

There are times when I wonder if BBC America is just a multi-disc DVD player with Gordon Ramsey, Top Gear, Doctor Who, X Files and Star Trek: TNG in it set to Random Play.

Re: Fox Soccer Channel in HD on Comcast

Not only has it arrived here in north central NJ on FIOS (FSC, that is), but they've placed it within all the other single-sport related channels, which I think will actually help bring it more...

Re: Rebecca Black - 'The Worst Song Ever' or a send-up?
