Open Audition for a Panto in Central NJ
Apologies to Moderators if there is a better spot for this to go. If so, please let me know and I'll move it there.
A little backstory. My wife was hanging out with a couple of British Expat friends here in Maplewood NJ and the topic somehow got onto Panto, and she complained that she had never seen one.
Cut to two months later and we are now writing and producing our very own Pirate-themed Panto here directed by, of course, ME (because no one else wanted to do it!).
So we're holding an open audition for anyone who may be interested in either being in the Panto or helping out. It's called ARRR! A Very British Pantomime! And will be playing at the Burgdorf Theater in Maplewood NJ on January 4-6 2013 (5 shows!).
The reasons I'm posting here are because a) I know there are many Expats out here in the Summit/Short Hills/Chatham/Maplewood/South Orange area and b) most of you lot might actually know what Pantomime means!
Feel free to make fun of me in subsequent posts - I know you will! But I'm actually really quite excited to finally have a venue and know that this ridiculous idea, spawned over a glass of wine or two, is actually coming to fruition!
Here are the official details...
--------------------------------------
Arrr! All you theatrical types out there!
Want to be part of a unique British pantomime in Maplewood NJ?
Then come to our open auditions on August 2 & 3 or 23 & 24 at 7pm to 9pm at the Burgdorf Theatre in Maplewood.
You must be available for show dates Jan 4-6, 2013 and rehearsals from beginning of September. We are looking for male and female leads, smaller character parts, walk on parts, children over the Age of 10 for dancing and singing.
If you can produce a convincing British accent thats a plus. But you must enjoy comedy and be able to go "ARRR!" like a pirate!
ARRR! A Very British Pantomime is an original UK-style panto set in a world of Pirates on the High Seas of the Caribbean, produced by Maplewood's own Deadgood Productions, written by Jonesey and directed by Ridley McIntyre.

Re: Open Audition for a Panto in Central NJ
Actually, Maplewood is *Northern* New Jersey, not Central NJ!
You might need to 'bump' your thread up from time to time as lots of peeps are on their holidays right now
I'm planning to leave the US sometime in the Autumn (but will continue to come over for visits as our son is staying in the house) otherwise I would have volunteered too.

I can't decide whether to nominate Uncle Eb or the anus bloke as the Dame.

Are you going to put a few references to Capt. Pugwash in to it?

Whilst I have not a theatrical bone in my body I will definitely bring the husband and kids to watch it.
