10 out of 10 for trying...
I want to be able to give 10 out of 10 for quality etc when I see it, but I can't help thinking it will be more like -10000000000000 out of 10...

The British one wasn't really all that funny after the second series anyway. Chances are it'll go out with a different name, different characters and be totally Americanized. It's not like anyone's stealing your DVDs of the other show from you.

Actually, I have to confess that I like John Leguizamo. I watched him play Tybalt a million times in Romeo+Juliet (was teaching it for GCSE), but can he do a Peckham accent?

Let's see what "Van" they're going to use.
Oh, hang on.......it will probably be filmed entirely in a studio

So from cockney dodgy dealers to hustlin' Ricans, eh? You never know, it could be good.

lets see what happens, but this is what they did to Steptoe and Son many years ago http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sanford_and_Son. They just made there own version of it without really trying to copy the characters. So maybe no one will notice it is actually an American version of Only Fools and Horses?
we can only hope!

It could work, it could be funny. Certainly the basic idea is simple and has a lot of legs, but it can just as easily turn into another Life On Mars when they want to be Sanford & Son.

The problem comes when they use British scripts and try to re-enact them.
Coupling is one of the funniest British sit-coms of the last 20 years, but here in America they tried to make the characters smooth and suave and sophisticated but still having stupid things in there like the giggle loop... (only its not a giggle loop its a giggle tower)...
Right thats it, I am off to dig out my Coupling DVD's - No work for me today!
ps
Please do not tell my boss!

And in the latest news, Christopher Lloyd (aka. Doc Brown) is playing Grandad. I can see it now..
"When this Robin Reliant hits 8mph, you're gonna see some serious s**t"

Anyway, many of these remakes change so much I do not really understand why they are remakes, I do not see why the producers just save the fee they pay the Brit rights owners and spend it on cocaine instead.
edit: never mind, a quick YouTube informs me that me and njmackem have different tastes.

Coupling is extremely well written and acted and funny. It grows on you. Its a bit like "Friends" in that its about the same group of ,well, friends, really.
