If you have access to HSBC in the US, you could set up an account with them, and then open one in the UK. Wasn't an option for me, but I think you can transfer funds between the accounts quite easily.

The only thing I can say for sure is that you are not a 'dual citizen alien' as you are not US citizens. Good luck, and again, someone with more knowledge may come along and provide more information.
