Default Insurance for container moving back home

Hi Folks,

we are shipping a container back home to the uk from Canada with Move Corp. As yet I have not purchased any insurance. I am sure it’s advisable to do this. I think from memory it’s 2-3% of the total value of your goods. The company has asked me to veryify the total value of our belongings so that they can produce a quote. What have your experiences been?
Just thought I would ask before I firm up with them.

Thanks in advance

Regards

Farmboy.

Default Re: Insurance for container moving back home

A few years back we were told (actually by the container company) not to bother, so we didn't. At the time, there were so many 'get out clauses' that he said the insurance was basically worthless.

But - that was a long time ago, and was the right decision for us at the time. Not a clue how they charge now or what the policy exclusions etc. might be. I can say, check what's actually covered VERY carefully.
