Re: Bread!

Gosh, yes. Potatoes are the best starch. I felt bad when I started eating baguettes and quickly gave them up. White flour is very low in nutrients and fibre and often has been treated to make it...

Re: Parsley Sage Rose...

I am very impressed with the village irrigation systems and systems of canals and gates and wonderful rows of vegetables and flowers and have spents lots of time around them and chatting to gardeners...

Re: Bread!

What is funny is that the French get quite in a panic if they do not have fresh bread to eat with their meals. I'm sure it was just used as a filler-upper in poorer times when the main part of the...

Re: Parsley Sage Rose...

That sounds great. Really its not happening here, don't know why. I find the locals very lacking in knowledge on local plants and wildlife too.

Parsley Sage Rose...

I realise quite recently that I have been using local thyme for cooking and rosemary, basil and oregano but had neglected having a pot of chives or parsley and realise that I don't see the locals...

Re: Bread!

Lidl does this massive wholemeal loaf for €1.99 that does not have soya or sugar and does slice well. Makes nice toast and sandwiches.
I have not found anything better from Hyper U or Intermarche...

Re: Water quality

ao
I'm not much up with the subject unless you are talking about state of streams and rivers. The amount of chlorine and even fluoride added to water supplies is horrible. Why so much chlorine in...

Re: Universal basic income

His reaction is enough to let you know that it would be a good plan! Means no one has to sell their souls to get something to to pay rent and eat.

Re: Universal basic income

I agree again. Manageable hours of work. Keeps you active, socially integrated, earning your keep and off ACC or sickness benefit.

Re: One for all you gardeners out there

The research is certainly not sketchy! Monsanto is a huge company who will sell where they can but many counties have banned the use of glyphosate or over the counter sales. If you believe that a...

Re: To change or not to change - the queen has spoken

Don't agree. Kiwis love change; sell it, tear it down, cut it down; "we want new shiny things". Respect for the land and its history is low. We are still part of the Commonwealth and should...

Re: One for all you gardeners out there

Glyphosate is the active ingredient of Roundup which has now been shown to enter bloodstream and cause cancer and is persistant in water ways. I suggest reducing size and burning or digger if...

Re: Was it all worth it?

You've said it all and I have to agree but earlier immigrants were much more 'original'. I think of elderly friends I had that are no longer with us; they really had imagination and were unique.

Re: Other peoples noise and anti-social behaviour.

Sounds like pretty normal endemic behaviour to me! Alcohol + people with no regard for others wellbeing or property + music = unlivable environment. Living near any alcohol outlet has got to be a...

Re: Clean Green NZ! Yeah right....Water Safety...Who's Worried!

Sorry but I don't understand why you need to make personal remarks. I think the patronising manner of telling women when and how they should feed their babies would have got right up my mother's...

Re: Clean Green NZ! Yeah right....Water Safety...Who's Worried!

It didn't really get going after the mid 1980's. Why so late? The common sense trend for hats had long gone. My parents were warned about the UV levels of the sun by their GP before they left the...

Re: Clean Green NZ! Yeah right....Water Safety...Who's Worried!

Well I can't ask my mother about this as she is dead but that is what she told me and she would have little to do with main stream medicine after that. Maybe it was the nurses she actually met. She...

Re: Clean Green NZ! Yeah right....Water Safety...Who's Worried!

I found those references to fluoride in a couple of minutes, there is plenty of material out there. I want people to become interested in the subject, read and form their own opinion. You seem to be...
