We had to bring in a utility bill to prove our address as well as our passports. It doesn't take too long but be prepared to have your photo taken on the day. The staff were really nice and helpful....

I would second Europcar, great service and not too expensive. Used them three times and had no problems, and got upgraded from a Focus to a Falcon once at no extra cost, cos they ran out of Focus's....

If you thought you had it bad just think of how difficult it is to get 2 and 4 year old boys to keep still & have a photo without smiling and pulling faces, looking the wrong way, running off etc.......

I've been quoted A$222 from melbournecabs.com for a van from Melbourne airport to Croydon. We have 2 kids and lots of luggage. Does that sound really expensive, or is that a good rate?

They won't get automatic citizenship like our kids did but they can apply for citizenship once they have lived in Oz for 2-3 years.

As far as I know (you may want to check with DIMIA first) children born to Australian citizens by decent are NOT eligible for citizenship if their parent has never lived in OZ, sorry.
