Re: What did you take with you?

Regarding room sizes, it might depend on exactly where you're moving to for furniture sizes. We have just (last week!) moved into a house in a small New England coastal town. It was built shortly...

I said CCF on my form and nobody ever asked about it, even though I'm in a place where guns aren't very welcome.

Re: Collecting States, Dead Presidents, Libraries

I collect Post Offices.

As a photographer, I use them to break my photographer's block, which happens from time to time even though I live in an incredibly scenic spot.

Re: Where to live?

I can see Ipswich across Parker River Wildlife Refuge from my desk at home on Plum Island, it's about 5 miles away.

Around here, I'd recommend looking in Newburyport MA if you can afford it. It's...

Re: Over 55. Can I withdraw a UK private pension directly?

Hmm. One of my UK Pension providers allows me to do flexible drawdown. Another won't but does allow a segment at a time to be encashed each year - which equates to a drawdown - but I don't understand...

Re: What age were you when...?

60.

Married this lovely lady I met in the South Pacific. Few regrets, but miss friends in the pub, Scouts, sports quite a lot. More difficult to make new friends when you're older.

Re: Moving to MA, drivers licence/ insurance

And in MA, you can't just turn up to the test in any old car.

The car has to allow the tester to be able to access the independent hand/foot brake without the inconvenience of a central console in...

Re: Moving out U.K citizen parents to USA

I moved out here at 60, 4 years ago - I'm still not retired and paying around $650 monthly for health insurance (with $2.5 k deductible). This is in MA, so other states may differ. Having said that,...

Re: So just how many miles do you do a year?

Around 15k miles/year in the 4 years I've been here.

Was less, but then I unretired myself last year and now I go around all the eastern half of the state photographing houses.

Re: QUESTION ABOUT OATH CEREMONY

What he said. And as a side note, the 'contact them' date if I didn't receive the notice was about 2 weeks after the ceremony!

The dog is now 19 and 'leaks' on everything regardless. She still manages to perk up whenever lunch is around though - she can run very fast then.

Re: Coyote in our garden :( Some advice needed please

Also living in Framingham MA, we get them very regularly from the State Park over the road. They come across our land even in the middle of the afternoon now, so they're not too shy. Shout at them!
