Never seen so much snow until now, I guess Boston has had the worst of the storm this year! Our car is totally buried in the snow except for the windshield wipers..
Going to be a hard task cleaning the snow tomorrow morning.. hope you're all keeping safe in the snow!!!

Am I nuts for wanting to leave the West Coast?
I'm really wondering about the disruption winters storms seem to be having..it seems...fairly regularly now.

Not very tall. The sun was shining and today's temperature was in the 70Fs. It was certainly rough going.

It's swings and roundabouts with weather. You either get relatively mild winter temperatures, but with regular nor'easters and other blizzard events (New York City, Boston and southern and coastal New England) or less snow and more manageable storms, but brutal cold temperatures (like where I live.) Or of course, Buffalo or Syracuse, where you get wicked bad snow AND cold temperatures!

We have hardly got any snow on the ski slopes. Some of the lower runs are still closed.

Not quite true if by "here" you mean San Francisco.
I saw some actual snowflakes falling and lying on the ground for several seconds in San Francisco on Christmas day one year back in the late 1990's (or, possibly, the early 2000's - can't remember the exact year).
This was at the highest point on Portola Drive and it only lasted for a few minutes, but it was real snow in San Francisco ...

Can go a week or more without any new snow fall on the mountains, not leading to a good season so far.
Was in the 50's this past weekend, broke all sorts of record high temps this past weekend around our region.
We have almost no snow left here form our 1 snow fall 3 weeks ago when we got about a foot of snow.
There are some patches here and there in shaded area's but nothing left for the most part.
A foot for this region created a huge mess, but we don't get significant snow fall often enough to justify having large amounts of equipment to clear it.

Yes, this is ours too.... Is that two feet?
Difficult to tell the exact total because the wind was blowing so hard for the past 36 hours it pushed a lot of the lighter snow around. What a relief once the wind finally dropped last night.
When I went out early this morning to assess my bird feeder situation (2 feeders had disappeared completely in the wind), I stepped into some pockets halfway up my thigh. (And I'm on the tall side....) But our front garden has some low spots that are just barely knee high.

At the back, the squirrels can now walk onto the bird feeder, carefully positioned so they normally can't jump high enough to get to it (and our squirrels can jump HIGH!)

After this snowfall all they have to do is stroll across the crust and give a tiny little hop. Oddly, no squirrels have appeared yet. We do have a fox that haunts our back garden, so maybe that's deterring them. You can tell the fox is about when all the birds suddenly vacate the feeder and stay away for an hour or so...

You work from home, right? The husband & I do as well, so extreme weather is no problem for folks like us. And all the schools and businesses were closed even before the storm appeared, and the state and local travel bans meant everyone holed up at home, so the vast majority were in no real danger.
