Re: On-arrival accomodation - Adelaide

We got the OAA - and stayed for the full 12 weeks. Got a 2 bed unit in Glandore for $144 / week including bills. YES - it looked like the inside of a prison (painted breeze blocks and very basic...

Re: Advice on citizenship test.

It's not like you're going to run out of time. 45 mins is the max. time they allow - not sure what I was meant to do with the other 43 mins. Probably thought I was doing the BE Funtrivia Quiz....

Re: Pool fencing regs apply to spas?

Re: Couple of quick bank/currency exchange questions...

I can recommend OzForex. Had no trouble at all with them and usually got a very good rate.

Re: Adelaide Help

That would probably be the first time the Advertiser has seen a journalist then.

I'd recommend hiring a car and just driving around until you come across an area you like.

Re: Is LPG conversion worth it in Australia?

We run our 4.8 litre Patrol on LPG. It makes a HUGE difference in filling up costs. Not really noticed a huge difference in fuel consumption (can't call it economy.).

Fantastic filling up...

Don't know which airline you've flown there with.

Re: Nissan X Trail

I'd say if it's fitted with a tow bar then fit a shackle attachment where the towball sits. That way you can be pulled out should the need arise (backwards of course!).

Economy wise - I get 8.5/9...

Re: Water shortage / forecasts - how bad is it in South Australia?

The desalination plant just goes to show how short sighted and narrow minded the State Government is. There's loads of water coming out of the sky during the winter. The infrastructure is fantastic...

Re: Portable Airconditoners

The exhaust needs to be put out of a window - or you'll just be keeping the hot air in the room and paying more money for it to run.

Re: Areas to avoid - Adelaide (SA)

Woodville & Kilkenny etc are certainly handy areas for the CBD and northern suburbs. Fair bit of old industrial buildings in Woodville North, though the area seems to be getting a load of money...

Re: Petrol or Diesel 4x4

For running costs - go for dual fuel. Definitely. Can't really complain when it costs less than $40 to fill the gas tank on our Patrol - all 4.8 litres of it. :D

And definitely Auto. I was dead...

Re: Adelaide Residents...Can anyone tell me...

Shouldn't take more than 10/15 mins or so by taxi at the most.
Try putting the details into www.whereis.com

These will also be useful websites.
