Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread

Thought I’d stick my head around the door and wave “hello” :).

Nice to see some familiar names, nice to see that not a lot has changed ;).

re: Toronto meetup 9th November

I’ve been vaguely wondering what happened to meet ups :)

I’m in TorontoTown all next week (22 - 28), so can’t make Nov 2 :( However, if anyone is up for it, could do Thursday or Friday 25/26.

Re: The kindness of strangers

Much love back at you, Siouxie. Taking care of yourself and sticking around here (without tiring yourself), just being you, is the only thanks BE’ers need or want, IMO.

Re: Some updates.

I’ve been sitting on my hands/trying to restrain myself from commenting since I came back to checking BE.

However, I’ll repeat myself yet again:

Re: Delays in first passport for child born overseas

Yes, that can be “normal”.

How many times do you need us to tell you so? You were told “at least” 8 months. For some countries it can take years.

You might not - or probably won’t - hear...

Yes. It was... annoying ...

Or the same name as a local born and bred Canadian, and whose records & yours (DL & health card IME) the province mucked up for years.

Re: A Get Well Soon Siouxie thread!

I missed this entirely (took a break from following BE & most internet stuff).

My thoughts are with you, Siouxie.

Re: How do you have your Marmite - or not ;)

Marmite. A good dollop enhances insipid gravy.

Otherwise I’m in the “it’s an abomination/can’t stand it” camp.

Re: Sir Roger Bannister

Right. RB first broke the 4 minute mile on the Iffley Road track in Oxford. Landry bettered that time 46 days later.

The Miracle Mile run in Vancouver was the first time they (or anyone) both came...

Re: Where in Canada 🇨🇦

If/when you come over on a recce trip to Qc, give me a nudge. I’m one of the BE outliers here (don’t live in a city) & would be happy to talk about the pros/cons of Qc & where/where not to live.

Re: Winter 2017-18

It was 4C+ all day yesterday, 9C this morning when I woke up. I have the heating off and windows open. It’s been pouring rain too.

Very odd after our Colder-than-the-Arctic life for the past...

Re: Freelancer visiting Canada?

I’m not sure that those would be considered “strong” ties either, but you might not even be asked about them. Proof of adequate funds (already available on arrival, not based on ongoing remote work)...

I agree with all this. It would probably be faster too.

HOWEVER: Shani007’s friend should read the refusal letter very carefully. There will be more details/explanation of why and how the decision...

Re: Refusal of a UK visit visa - Appendix V 4.2 (a) and (c). 17 year-old on a gap yea

:goodpost:

If I were the OP, I’d concentrate on correcting the mistake (whatever it was) in the original student visa application and making sure I’d get it right this time around.

After all,...

Re: Going To Uk Help Me Please

Without details, I’d suggest that your friend sign up here and ask his own questions. And/or await the outcome of the appeal/review.

Re: French national eligible via British by descent?

If I understand correctly, the OP has been living in the UK since 1981, and is ~60 years old.

Children haven’t been mentioned, so far ;), although I do get your point.
