As I understand it if you are Tax resident in Australia thats where your liability for the profit made lies and therefore gets paid to the ATO. Remember most renting related costs except repayments...

The majority of 3G networks use 2100Mhz agreed. But there is a lot of use of 850 so saying few carriers is incorrect as its use in the americas is quite widespread. 900 has been/will be implemented...

You were right the first time Vodafone is proper network provider and not an MVNO and the original poster was incorrect

I would suggest phrasing it that governments have run some operations less efficiently than the private sector... But the government intends to create and sell the NBN

Hmm thats no correct.... the government should recoup its investment either through operation (v.long period) or through asset/co. sale (s. period). Net effect is tax payer provides loan to start...

Business does pay for it and only those that use it. The $42bn is in effect an at risk loan to setup a new company to provide services. The government will eventually float the company, seeing return...
