Re: Is it just me or is this the "norm"?

I agree - Australia is definitely having its own little austerity. It shouldn't be with all its resources but all the profit from them goes into a few private hands so the unemployment is growing...

Re: Is it just me or is this the "norm"?

Totally agree. It's hard enough for local people to get work.

Re: heared on the radio ... is this true?

They recently took bricklayers off the SOL, so that says something about construction I suppose.

Re: UK Graduate wants to emigrate - What do I need to do

It drops low at night, but daytime winter usually not lower than 10 or 12. Problem is Australian houses don't often have proper heating (or any heating) so it can be cold at night. I disagree with BS...

Re: Back And Still Scared!

Everywhere is going to become an impossible place to live decently on a working wage under Cameron.

Re: I don't know what to do..

Also very respectfully, while they are countries, they are not nation-states. And yes there was coercion, but in all cases hundreds of years ago.

In terms of jurisdiction powers Iowa and Oregon...

Re: I don't know what to do..

In a way, but my issue with networking is that it's usually not an open process but goes on behind closed doors and personal relationships count for more than ability. It might be that the best...

Re: TV Licence checks... how do they?

I used to work with someone who didn't have a TV set and he got bothered loads of times by whoever checks up on these things - intimidating him, etc., demanding to see inside his house.

Now, if...

Re: I don't know what to do..

I totally agree. The US system just has to be wined and dined a little more than other systems, that's all and totally +1 about the nepotism/contacts etc. The US system really encourages this sort of...

Re: I don't know what to do..

The UK is in the equation whether you like it or not because NI is in the UK, full stop. My problem with it is that it discriminates between people of the same nation-state. If Britain decided that...

Re: Dual Nationality (well triple or quadruple)

Well, ok, sure. But they would make enough fuss about it if they all needed to get into Canada and Ottawa turned round and said only those born in blue states.

Re: Dual Nationality (well triple or quadruple)

No it won't change because it exists to reinforce itself like a vicious circle. Because of family migration started in 65, the demographics changed massively, and it expedited America's journey...

Re: Dual Nationality (well triple or quadruple)

It's not just Canada that suffers from this though -because of the wages offered to specialists in the US it acts as a magnet and sucks the talent out of other states, but this will change over this...

Re: Dual Nationality (well triple or quadruple)

To be honest fatbrit, I'm happy to concede that there is a difference between nativity and citizenship, but you are wrong to say that citizenship is irrelevant because it is one of the ways to...

Re: Immune system better or worse...?

This is a really interesting thread. Is it just because of ageing?? It can't be any other reason, can it?

Re: immigration to canada

I started reading the thread at post 1, saw his comment on post 5, hit reply and made my post. No one reads an entire thread before going back to the beginning to make a reply.

Re: Dual Nationality (well triple or quadruple)

Interesting. America rests on its laurels a bit here I feel, from when it really was the best country in the world to move to, but as the 21st century progresses it will be abundantly obvious that...

No it wasn't. The sentence of the OP's that I replied to was in post #5 before he was informed of this, and made the comment directly after reading his post. Having worked with IELTS I was simply...

Re: Dual Nationality (well triple or quadruple)

I never saw the appeal in America to be honest. It just doesn't do it for me at all, so I am surprised that so many people choose it over Canada. But it has such a big PR machine in Hollywood I think...

Of all the countries in the English-speaking world, the greatest disparity between visiting and living in is to be found in America, as many here will tell you.

Where were you, your wife, your...

Re: Dual Nationality (well triple or quadruple)

Well, you sought to demonstrate that you got the DV visa while being born in Britain, but neglect to show that your eligibility for the DV visa was granted to you because of someone else and claiming...
