Re: Bonfire Night in LA

Meh, Dia de los Muertos is alright. I've already done that though when I lived up in Washington State. It doesn't hold any personal meaning to me, whereas Bonfire Night does.

Re: Posting Xmas cards to the UK

I was shocked when, a few days after I arrived here, I went to the post office to buy stamps for postcards to send to the UK. $10 for 10 stamps. For a postcard? That's extortion!

Re: UK Foods in the US Share your finds!

O my gosh, they're the same thing? Like, literally the same thing? I always knew they were similar, but I didn't think they were actually the same thing! You've honestly just made my day, RickWG. ...

Re: UK Foods in the US Share your finds!

I thought they might, so I checked in there. I guess my branch doesn't have them or they sold out. There was loads of Cadbury, but no Cadbury advents. I'll keep checking in with fingers crossed! ...

Re: Hand-me Downs for Kate Already?

I saw the BBC interview yesterday as well, and the same thing struck me. They were much more open than I was expecting, and they humoured each other, especially Wills. If you take out the whole...

Re: UK Foods in the US Share your finds!

Took a dangerous trip to World Market yesterday. Wanted to by half the food department, settled on a pack of McVities. Then I get home and find a lovely surprise in the post from my best friend who...

Re: 2 countries separated by a common language..?!

But it's such fun! Just wait until people start mimicking your accent and the way you pronounce things. Hours of entertainment, I swear.

Sounds like fun! Did you guys do anything for Bonfire night? Is it just for British expats, or are Americans welcome as well?

Re: Re-location Advise for the USA!!!!!

That's true, but I moved to the UK without ever having visited. It's an enormous risk, but if you want it enough, it'll work. I think you just have to be really dedicated to it and know without a...
