Hi I am Heather, and am from Kent. I am married to a Norwegain and living in the south of Norway with him and our 2 year old daughter. We are all heading off to Pasadena CA for a couple of months from Jan 2011. He will be working/ studying at Caltec, so my daughter and I will be left to our own devices during the daytime. I'm really looking forward to coming
, but am a bit nervous that I'll not find enough to do, and will be so far from friends and family
. Is there anyone who can meet up with us to shop, go to cafes or the play park? That would be great

I'm relatively new to the LA area (only moved back from the UK 2 1/2 months ago). I'm American, lived in the UK for three years for uni, only just moved back. It'd be great to meet some new people.

Pasadena is wonderful. There are so many museums near there, and such a long time sense of community. It's a beautiful city with gorgeous architecture everywhere. The Los Angeles area has a number of British ex-pat "Meet Up" groups in case you want to connect to fellow Brits. Just check MeetUp.com. You can always message me, I'm American, married to a Brummie. You will love Pasadena.

Thanks so much for your encouraging responses, it's good to hear such positive accounts of Pasadena. It's really difficult to picture a place in your head before you've been there, so it was good to hear that there's a sense of community there and plenty to do.
Thanks for your offer to meet up Nejicano, that would be great. It's nice to know that I have some plans right from the begining. There's obviously a lot on offer in the area as I looked up 'english tea Pasadena' for fun and found three tea houses! such a contrast from where I live here in Norway... here you have to like walking in the mountains or swimming from the rocks in the summer or your stuffed! Will be great to be in a lively place for a while.
Keep in touch, Heather.
