You don't have to get it. It's not compulsory. What are you 2 guys doing, looking after the shack while Shem goes walkabout ? This is for my mates in the British Foreign Service, my friends who teach...

Not for my friends in the British Foreign Service who aren't able to respond.

Re: Advice from Malaysian Embassy at odds with that seen elsewhere

It isn't a spelling mistake. It's ignorance of the difference between the words, "poor" and "pour" from someone who denigrates teachers of English as a Second Language.

Who gives a sod about...

Re: Advice from Malaysian Embassy at odds with that seen elsewhere

You're like me then, some typos etc but then I'm not knocking anyone or any institutions.

This guy Nermodot rubbished ESL teachers, so it's fair game to look for a decent level of spelling in his...

Re: Advice from Malaysian Embassy at odds with that seen elsewhere

Double standards, Sue.

Nermodot uses a bit of unsupported sarky about the British Foreign Service and you leave it. I do the same, without names, and you remove it.

I have friends in the...

Re: Advice from Malaysian Embassy at odds with that seen elsewhere

Gratuitously running down the British Embassy is crass.

And Malaysia doesn't have a British Embassy. It's a High Commission.

Thicko.

Re: New boy with sights on Penang

A friend of mine who does the Satun route tells me it's 90 days. Last had a chat about 5 months ago but maybe someone has something later.

Satun is viable because of budget accommodation there or...

Re: New boy with sights on Penang

1). An acquaintance of mine runs a bookshop, based in Penang. It's online, has newsletters, and the stock of books is viewable by appointment. Basically an offshore enterprise.

2). You get a...

Re: Penang what is the reality?

Julian,

You could try teaching at one of the "International" schools as standards are on the low side so a newbie degree holder would probably be a plus, and they really take anyone who can nearly...

I agree with you Tosser.

Running down TEFL. What a cheek.

Anyway it's all moot now as with the Residents Pass the Talent Corp authorities have made it pretty clear that if you aren't in the top...

Re: Year of the Rabbit... but what are you?

The memsahib often says that I'm a lard-ass but I can't find it in the list of Chinese Zodiac. Apparently it has the characteristics of being very lazy. Must mean donkey.

What . . . yes, she's...

What hot weather ? It's 27.2 degrees and the thermo is next to the TV. A light breeze through the windows and it's great.

Sure, about 32 in the shade this afternoon, but with the fans and sitting...

Re: Have you had enough of Lion Dances yet?

Don't you find them a bit lethargic. Surely a bit more activity and an increase in the general volume would go down much better. It's all too sedate for me.

I didn't know that lions ate cabbage.

Re: It's that time of the year....

Eat out : Fried rice, Chinese tea, redbean with coconut.
After all there's no snow and with 30 degree ++ temps it's just another day in the Tropics.

Then it was raised to RM250,000.
Then it was raised, on the 1st Jan 2010, to RM500,000

This is the Federal Government setting a nationwide...

Re: MM2H so expensive

As in virtually all countries there already is a massive disparity. The idea for a higher-income country is to bring more people into the tax net, and make fiscal policies that much more predictable.

Re: MM2H so expensive

It isn't so expensive when you think about it. Let's face it, as a single person you'll get a 10-year renewal visa and you have to deposit RM150,000 in a FD. You collect the interest tax-free, and if...

Re: Wanting to get advice on where to live in Malaysia
