When having a conversation with a kiwi
they will often start their response with "yes no ..."

Leaves one a tad confused as to whether they are agreeing with you or not - covers all bases I guess....

Kiwis use brandnames for generic products.

e.g. Janola = bleach, even if it's not Janola bleach.

If you ask for Ibuprofen you will get blank looks
you need to ask for the brandname - Nurofen

So, the more efficient your car, the more your fuel costs!

After a bit of probing the, RUC (Road User Charge) for diesel cars (sub 2 tonnes loaded) works out at 2.474 cents/km

Well Timaru really isn't very close to Christchurch, a rough guess from looking at the map puts it at somewhere over 150Km away. There is an airport with flights to Chch.

The kids will certainly be able to relate to the TV - they will have seen most of the stuff already. There is a lot of BBC and other UK programming on NZ TV, most of it from about 6 months/1yr ago!
