Re: Moving to Toronto, need advice on neighbourhoods

We live at Yonge/Eglinton and I work down near Union Station. The commute is fine. If you are looking for a main street with a little bit more personality than Yonge, you might want to look more...

Re: Using UK Bedside Lights

Yep, I took my lamps into a lighting store - I was going in to ask if they can modify them for Canadian bulbs - and instead they took me to the bulb section and found me the right one for the lamp!

Re: Would love any info on Kingston, Ontario

But learn where the areas of the student "ghetto" are and avoid buying there if you want a nice quiet life. The relationship between the city and the university is pretty strained these days. ...

Re: Weetabix

I'm in Toronto and have difficulty finding them! Those horrible flavoured minibix are around, but difficult to find proper weetabix - although when I do, I don't find any flavour difference,...

Re: Which COAT should I buy for my teenage sons?

Maybe it's a Toronto thing <cue Toronto-bashers> but they are everywhere here (or maybe they're all knock-offs, who knows?) - you can't move without seeing those badges on everyone's arms. There was...

Re: Which COAT should I buy for my teenage sons?

Canada Goose is the brand that all the teens wear - http://www.canada-goose.com/. No idea why because they are really expensive and far too warm for Toronto weather (most of the time). But...

Re: UK mail address

I don't know about the legalities of it, but our Freehold landlord told us the same thing. They send us mail about payments to our UK property, but they are not addressed to our name specifically...

Re: Bringing guitars to Canada - thoughts?

This is the biggest benefit to me - if you're doing the luggage on your own, then 2 guitars and suitcases is going to be difficult.

They aren't going to question why you are bringing a guitar over...

Re: April landing-How do we keep kids busy ?

If you are planning to do a lot of the "big" attractions, then consider getting a CityPass: http://www.citypass.com/toronto - it's valid for 9 days and includes admission to the CN Tower, Toronto...

Re: Where to watch Six Nations rugby in Toronto?

Scallywags and Duke of Gloucester are the main ones I know - they can tend to be busy for big events.

There will also be a cover charge - which is charged by Sentana.

Re: Oak furniture - to ship, or not to ship?

If you are bringing in goods as a PR, you declare that the goods have actually been used by you - so shipping in the original packaging might not be a good idea. (and if you are bringing them in as...

Re: Oak furniture - to ship, or not to ship?

Just a note that we bought a sideboard and tv stand from this company about 3 years ago and have been very pleased with the quality.

Our shared container cost us approx £2500. This is our first...

Re: Rogers or Bell

The only negative I've heard about Teksavvy is that Bell or Rogers (not sure) cap their speeds - so while you have unlimited download limits, it's useless for streaming services, which is a big...

Re: Rogers or Bell

There's not much in it really. Best thing to do is to cost out the packages you want online and then call them both up - so if Bell works out cheaper, call up Rogers and ask them for a better deal -...

I've always found Enterprise does the best rates for automatics - I had an auto license in the UK, so no choice in what I was renting.

Never had any problems with them until the last car I rented...
