Hi
i know they have king size etc. but if i bring my UK double bed base
will i be able to obtain a mattress that fits ?
i'm guessing not to be honest but best to check
the UK mattress is "past its best" so won't be coming

We bought a double mattress here, it's called something else and I can't remember what though. It's also slightly smaller but its ok.

From what I can remember UK double is roughly equal to a "full"

I think that measurement for a double/full is wrong as the mattress we bought here is narrower but the same length as the bed base.

We bought a new mattress for one of our single beds in the UK prior to coming over. We were having a whole container coming anyway so it wasn't a problem. The only problem we encountered over here in buying bedding was that the duvets here are bigger so if you are buying new covers here for UK duvets they will be too big. We have bought flat and fitted sheets and comforters that all fit our UK beds OK, it was just the duvet covers.

The wiki article here is correct for the standard North American mattress sizes.

I brought both single and double beds over, but I knew that none of the bedding would fit. So I made sure I bought lots with me, getting bedding here from UK isn't hard anyway. We did buy a new queen size here and of course we had to buy bedding for it. But what I did here was use my double duvet on Queen bed, ok it doesn't hang over as much, but it does the job, and sheets here do not have bed skirts on them, so I use my double bed sheet with skirt between mattress and boxspring....works perfect...
Canadian bedding also comes with top sheet, UK you get duvet cover, bottom sheet and pillow case. My family still think it is strange we only use duvet and no top sheet.
