Re: Healthcare in BC

If it means anything and adds to your reassurance, I live in Vancouver, I've used the health service multiple times and have only ever had very positive experiences. I'm not sure where you're getting...

Re: Now you live in Canada ...

Yea, I hear what you're saying. I'm not really sure how much of an effect the price of beer has on people with these sort of problems, so I can't defend that.

I was thinking of the whole spectrum...

Re: Now you live in Canada ...

I believe the argument here in BC, and presumably Canada, is that keeping the cost of alcohol artificially high helps to reduce drinking problems. There is so many things wrong with the system here...

Re: Now you live in Canada ...

I have to jump in and defend Canadian beer. The national beers, such as Molson, taste like warm piss, but the local beers out here puts the UK stuff to shame. It's one of my favourite things about...

Re: Edmonton, Vancouver or Calgary - we need a decision. Thoughts?

Vancouver POV here. I've been here for 2 years. As you've probably heard, it rains a lot through the winter. The summers have always been solid though - generally a bit warmer than southern UK, but...

Re: Getting Around To Getting My BC License

Can anyone help? I really am confused about using a car for the road test. I don't own one, so do I use a learner one? Is that the done thing? Or do they provide one?

Getting Around To Getting My BC License

I'm finally making a concentrated effort to do what I need to get my BC license in time for some summer driving. I was just wondering if someone could explain how a few things work over here. I...

Re: Does Canada = Utopia?

I just finished watching this. Pretty amazing documentary. Definitely changed my view of the DTES although left me even more confused to solutions. The really sad part of the whole scenario seems to...

Hotel/B&B/Apartment Recommendations in Vancouver

The parents are coming out to visit me in August and they've asked me to find them somewhere to stay (not at my house thank god). I don't really know where to start as I've never really been here as...

Where is our first "port of entry"?

My girlfriend finally has her passport back and I'm ridiculously happy that she'll be back in Vancouver this weekend. I just have one final question. I have a bit of confusion over exactly where it...

Re: Chav Britain: Another reason to move to Canada

I wasn't really commenting on the reality of UK society and what's wrong or right with it. Just commenting on how crap these papers are and how bad a source of information they are. Don't worry, I'm...

Re: Chav Britain: Another reason to move to Canada

Couldn't agree more with this. I remember reading once about all the articles that the Daily Mail print that turn out to be complete lies, it was pretty incredible and these were the sort of articles...

Re: Landing with Canadian on UK passport?

No worries. Personally I don't think I'll ever bother with a Canadian passport. The cost of keeping one passport is expensive enough and you really don't need a Canadian one to prove your...

Re: Landing with Canadian on UK passport?

Hi nhbiker,
Just for reassurance, I'm a UK and Canadian citizen without a Canadian passport. I've travelled many times into Canada on a one way ticket with nothing but my UK passport and citizenship...

Re: Living in Sydney's Climate - What is it Like?

Awesome, thanks GreenMan72. That was really useful. I've been keeping an eye on the a Sydney webcam as inspiration when it's chucking it down here and noticed that it's often been cloudy. Which I'm...

Should I Be Worried?

After what can only be described as a surprisingly smooth and quick PR process (sponsored common-law processed in London) the final stage seems to be the most agonising. My girlfriend mailed her...

Living in Sydney's Climate - What is it Like?

I know what the figures say - temperatures, rainfall, sunshine hours - and I've even lived in Sydney for half a year. But, from a subjective point of view, living in Sydney for over a full year how...
