I know how to use torrents but it's just a lot more hassle, downloading it, keeping your ratio, etc. Fine if you are cheap or can't afford a few bucks, but I'll stick with the convenience of iPlayer with it's nice user interface.

I don't mind paying for good content, roll on the BBC doing this properly.

I pay for a VPN. consult-here - costs me $25 a quarter. I will admit to being deliberately provocative in that post (I do use torrents quite a lot for anime and older tv such as the sweeney).

I actually watch stuff through my TV and I like the convenience and ease of the iPlayer app and $9 month isn't a lot compared to what I have to pay those crooks at shaw in the first place.

FilmOn is still providing good quality streaming of BBC 1 & 2, ITV 1,2,3 & (maybe) 4, C4, Film 4 and C5.

Still free. Had it since May last year.

Just downloaded filmon, and it looks really good.

For me personally, streaming live TV when we're 7hrs behind isnt always going to be practical though....

True enough. 4 hours for me. I don't use it that much though. Match of the Day at 6.30 on a Saturday evening is quite good as a supplement to watching some of the games earlier. Should be useful for Rugby Internationals too.

I've seen England games on ITV instead of PPV.

I also watched the Doctor Who two-parter live too.

Although there is a 'log on' box, you can select 'skip' and watch without signing on. Occasionally it may show as scrambled but the 'low speed' option works just as well. On the rare occasion it has said scrambled for BBC, the slow option has always worked.

There are other and cheaper ways to get it apparently, but I'm not sufficiently computer knowledgeable to try those.
I have my BBC iPlayer Desktop fully loaded at the moment with stuff like Wallander, Silent Witness etc.
Hi, how do you do this?

Not really. There are some good programmes produced by the BBC.

I think it is great that you can catch up with British TV on the Internet.

Hehe I have been listening to Canadian radio stations online (I have discovered some great rock stations)

Yes, because they want you to buy the service.

For those of you using a proxy, how do you find the speed for things like BBC iPlayer? Is it close to expected speeds?
