To be realistic, the best opportunities for employment ARE in Barcelona and Madrid... But it depends on WHAT you can do.

The best jobs are those where English is lingua franca, and you have lots...

And another thing to consider is the working day in Spain. If you need two incomes to survive, the working day in Barcelona is not for the faint-hearted!

It runs from 8/9am -1pm with a two hour...

I live in Gava, which is an area about 10km outside of Barcelona. I hope you dont mind but I am going to give you my honest opinion about living in Barcelona... :)

I guess there is a BIG difference between living in a relatively new detatched villa on a largely brit-owned development, and living in an a tiny apartment in seriously close proximilty to the locals...

Many people going because they can't find the full time, taxed work that would enable them to stay. With no social security cover, e.g. Medical cover, would you stay?

It's for political reasons - they honestly don't really want to be associated with the rest of Spain.

If you speak Spanish, they will make the effort, but the locals in Barcelona will speak...

Catalan is spoken everywhere, EVERYWHERE in Barcelona. Spanish is not a language that is widely appreciated here! :eek:
