Buttons and knobs....nothing to do with air-brushed porn.
The knob 'clicked' into position. The buttons were also for tuning as I recall.
I used to be able to tune into HTV Wales as well as the English one.
On Friday nigthts I'd watch UFO, then turn to 'Wales' and watch the last half hour again.

Watching my big brother hammer segs into the heels of his shoes to make sparks when he skidded down the lane.

We had a blue and grey one in the 60s. Years later when we had something different and it packed up, there was a delay in my parents replacing it. I was desperate for something to play my records on and I bought an old Dansette off someone at work. It was red.

All the Enid Blyton books and story time at school on Friday afternoons in top class.
The Faraway Tree - The Magic Wishing Chair. Famous Five and Secret Seven and then the boarding school series like Mallory Towers.
Lizzie Dripping - the girl who saw a witch in a cemetary.
Playing rounders at school and out on the street at home.
Sports day in Junior and Infant school ... egg and spoon race - three legged race, sack race and the wheelbarrow race.
Saver strips for bus rides that you punched in a machine on the bus and they forever became known as a "kerching"
Hammer House of Horror on Saturday nights.
Hockey boots - frozen pitches, knees and fingers and then a communal walk through shower at school and the sports teacher was always a lesbian.
Sleeping in the boot part of the car on a blanket with the dog.
Flourescent ankle socks that got banned at school.
Vomit inducing tapioca, semolina and rice pudding. Even the dollop of strawberry jam never improved the taste or texture. Nicknames for the same school puddings ........ wallpaper paste and frog spawn.

[*]Going to the football match with my dad - unfortunately he was a City fan and I was a closet United fan, so I'd have to go to Maine Rd. with him, and I was too embarased to tell him I was a United fan.
Getting our season tickets for Maine Rd for under a tenner, sitting in platt lane, brothers was cheaper he was in kippax - your dad was obviously a very astute man

I Can't remember what we used to call this playground game but you needed four wooden dolly pegs which you propped up against a wall, cricket stump style.
And then you knocked them down with a tennis ball.
