I mean to get higher paying jobs.
Not sure I have ever been successful in any job aside from the airline 1998-2003.

You mentioned they are advertising/expanding - would it be worth getting in contact to see if you could get a different position with them, perhaps? One that doesn't require you to crawl around in confined spaces to the detriment of your feet/ankles/back? Could you get to drive the luggage thingy instead, or supervise the ramps or be in the sorting department or something? (I don't know the different job titles so am making things up as I go!)

Keeping everything crossed for you

But you were in pain and suffering physically and it could have resulted in your injuring yourself permanently if you had kept going.. so you definitely needed the break your doctor ordered. Did you resign or could you get a 'return to work with limited/restricted duties' order from your doctor? Did / do you have a union?

I have a meeting next week with HR and a manager to discuss some things, it may or may not result in a job, I didn't leave on bad terms so its a possibility, have to wait until next week to see how it goes.
No it was a non-union job.
It would be ideal to have a 0 hour line then pick up shifts on a casual basis, not sure if that would be a possibility but would be most ideal as I could work more and less as needed.

Seems like there's a few jobs in the industry around

There is no chance for me.
There is no cure for what I have. Cost of living is too high and beyond what I can earn to have a nice life.
I broke my laptop.
Unless 6 figure income earner there is no way to have a nice life and without said income there is not much out there therapy wise either and without therapy there is way to try and recover from this.
Cant undo 40 years of pain in 6 months in a classroom setting.

So sorry to hear you broke your laptop! Is it repairable?
Maybe 'where' you are is impacting you negatively, in as much as the higher cost of living there has a direct affect on your feelings of frustration. I don't earn anywhere near a 6 figure income, but I manage.. because where I live isn't an expensive area.
I realise there are a lot of different aspects to consider and it's not as easy as jumping on a plane / getting in a car and going off to pastures new.. but perhaps use these months ahead to start to make a plan and see if you can find ways around the things that are stopping you at present. Look into health cover, income supplement/ disability benefits and see where it might be easier to qualify for them.
I was looking at a website the other day that had jobs in the airline industry all over Canada - including out East... so perhaps that might be something you could consider. Yes it will cost money to move - but that isn't insurmountable.. there are people that want vehicles moved across country - some of them pay you to drive.. and there's ways and means of raising funds, if you had a destination in mind.
Just thinking out loud.. you can ignore me if you prefer.. but please know that you have a lot of people who care about you on here.

We waver back and forth on moving east.
Our biggest hurdle and concern is disability far east offers pretty much nothing but has lowest cost of living. Quebec may offer something but as we dont speak French it likely isnt an option....
ON is about the only option just no guarantee we would qualify for disability there and my wife is not able to work much so that is a concern and could take a very long time to get approved if ever. Its a major concern.
Leaving BC has a lot of risks due to the disability issue.
The areas of BC that have jobs are not up north isolated (really pricey to travel within BC by air and without Greyhound air is about the only option now other then private car.)
East also isolates us from our families and its hard enough seeing mine now going east likely means never seeing them.
Its an uphill battle trying to figure everything out.
I have moved so many times that I am wary moving would solve much..... Lol
Maybe we will luck out and get into BC Housing but that is a long shot. But its the only way to get affordable housing in this region.
I guess I am just wary of the risks involved in moving. Lol
Have to really think as well if Ill ever like Canada as a whole. I miss the US and the food there and Disneyland and the SD Zoo andbroad trips.
Time will tell.
Lap top I dropped and screen is broken. Can see a little on the screen but doesnt seem to actually work.
Shame as it wasnt very old.

Can't see the linked article, but get the gist. Unfortunately I think society as a whole has some big challenges on pay over the next few decades, as automation is re-writing the book on lower skilled work. Bernie Sanders is right to call out Amazon etc, but it will take quite some time until governments and citizens are persuaded that structural reforms are needed.
What does it take to get into BC housing JS? Is it just a waiting list problem? What does your wife think about you coming off meds? Haven't they been helping?

Its not first come first serve its priority based and as we have housing and no kids we are bottom of the priority well not very bottom as we are PWD and pay an unsustainable % of income towards housing which gives us a small boost.
We have so far been waiting almost 3 years. 3 years in January.
We are also on some market rental co op wait lists that are lower then we pay now. None have a time frame on when we may get an interview and it would be a competitive based process with whoever else they interview.
silly thing is the City of Vancouver considers 1,730 for a 1 bedroom in East Van affordable. We pay 1750 so slightly above what the city deems affordable.
Developers who build this so called for profit affordable housing get incentives......
On the west side of Vancouver they consider 1,903 for a 1 bed as affordable.
Last I knew there were 9,000 people on BC Housing wait list.
We havent had our rent raised in the nearly 2 years we have been here but if they do raise it in 2019, they can go as much as 4.5% which will sting a bit.
