what, Stone's and a blended Scotch? Why yes, yes indeed. That's been the go-to tincture in my hip flask for many years, and has a long tradition as a warming drink on a cold day (science notwithstanding).

Well, I wouldn't waste a good single malt on it, but that's what the Bell's or, in my case, Teacher's, is for.

If it's Teachers you can have a pass ;) It might even be an improvement.

Teacher's is one of the nicest blends. And nothing wrong with spicing up a bit of ginger wine with a dram.

I ordered some last week....Bombay Bad Boy! the black pot!

As the UK advert used to say (by the guy with a strong Welsh accent) "They're no good for you, but they're bloody gorgeous!!!" LOL!

Not in my book it isn't. Grouse, JW, Chivas, even Grants are superior. Although these days, I tend to stick to malts.

I nearly always drink malts too, Old Pulteney being my favourite. But even tonight I had a blend, a Ballantine's. Perfectly pleasant in a way that Grouse or Bells just doesn't do it for me.

A blend I used to really enjoy but honestly haven't had for almost 20 years would be Black Bottle.

To drink with soda or (if you must, Bristol) with sweet pop, possibly over ice as a long drink, then I would prefer a "premium blend" from Johnnie Walker or Grouse (the Black Grouse is quite nice). But for a whisky mac I actually think Teacher's goes very well.

Single malts, of course, are a different kettle of fish altogether. To be enjoyed with just a splash of (tap) water at room temperature. Hmmm - I've got a bit of a thirst on, now. My mouth is watering for something suitably medicinal - maybe a dram of a Speyside malt - a Balvenie or a Macallan, or perhaps a Highland Park, or something a little peatier from Lagavulin or Bruichladdich... not sure I've got anything else on the go at the moment.

I don't know that I've ever tried Old Pulteney. I knew there was a distillery in Wick but am not familiar with its product. Thank you for the recommendation!

It's a bit unpatriotic, but my fave blend is probably Jameson's. Malt would be Bowmore, Dalwhinney or occasionally a Laphroaig.
