Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread
Its hot week. On 🔥 today.
Enviro Canada says 24 but its gotta be warmer, I do beleive they take the official temp at the airport here but closer to the water and of course away from the ramp and all the concrete. |

Temps are taken in the shade...usually at midday. In the sunlight and later in the afternoon they will be much higher. When I lived in New Jersey the hottest part of the day was between 4 and 5 pm.
As of 1pm up to 25 but now they have a humidex reading as well which shows 30. So suppose that is why it feels so warm. Better then my moms. 46 there. 42 in Phoenix where my sister lives and its cooler today then the past few days. My dad in San Diego its currently 25. |

Air is smokey and smelly today. Forest fires I assume.

A bargain..only $59 million for the prestige of living in Oakville. Is this the home of the owner of Mattamy Homes or is that another house? |

Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread
One of many reasons I dislike condos.
Elevator is broken again. Broke sometime overnight. The parkade has no stair access from inside the building. One way stair access leads out of the parkade but no way to access it from the street. As we rent we dont have a stairwell access key so cant leave the building to go check to see if my fob will work at the parkade entrance as there are 3 doors to go through and if my fob does not work to open parkade from the street then I am stuck outside for who knows how long. I am going to be late for work and lose money on wages because of this. Taxi isnt an option as payday is next week. |
Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread
Finally got 1 elevator up at 630. Only 3 hours late for work.

Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread
Sounds like a fire escape nightmare. Not sure how many stories are in your building.

Edit: I re-read the initial post and realise the problem isn't leaving the apt. Jsmith you'll have to get a key for the stairwell or the parade from the landlord; tell him you have to be able to get to work to make his rent money. |
Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread
There is no issue exiting the building. Problem is all the stairs lead to the street. There is no stairwell that can access the parkade.
The parkade stairs lead to the street but are alarmed one way exits for emergency. You can escape from the garage but there is no way to access the parkade via stairs. The only way to access the parkade is via elevator. It was the same in the last 2 buildings we have lived in. Can escape the parkade via stairs to street but cannot access parkade via stairs only elevator. Its the 3rd time in under a week the elevators have stopped working. The building is compliant with code as there is no issue escaping the building, its getting into the building and parkade that is the issue. Its 4 floors plus ground level retail and 3 below ground parking levels.

EMT, police, fire, I don't see how it's legal to lock people in a building like that. The fire marshall made me remove all the bolt and bar hardware used to secure the building at work years ago. All the exit doors have to have functioning crash (push bar) hardware so there is no deterrent to anyone leaving and little to prevent the 911 squad breaking in.
