At my daughter's wedding there was a Negroni stand with these snacks. Is it a particularly Milanese thing?

Invented in Florence in 1919-so it is said. "Free" snacky nibbles are definitely a thing in Milan. We've been to Milan twice this autumn & go to Caffe Carducci where from 4 o'clockish the bar is loaded with free food-most civilised.

Al Ain is a really nice place. A proper oasis town in the middle of the desert, I really like it.

For what properties are worth in Vancouver, you would think the city would be getting enough cash to have decent streets, Vancouver has some of the worst streets of any city I have ever lived.

Pah, root canal is not a big deal. The surgery to remove the broken files after the root canal goes wrong, that's a big deal.

You know what makes a great beef burger? A burger where they ask you how you want it cooked. One pound of meat, seared to the point where you get a hard black crust and red in the middle. A little lettuce leaf, thin slice of tomato to humour the meat. A little red sauce and mayonnaise on a poppy seed kaiser roll. Unfortunately if you live anywhere outside the NY tristate area they serve you some emaciated, special needs burger that they dress up to compensate the inadequacy of the scam they’re trying to pull off. No one’s fooling nobody.

You'll get a willing refund if it goes wrong. Even as they withdraw their machinery they will offer you money. It's not enough!

iirc I was refunded about $4,000 but the cheapest quote for the remedial surgery was $15,000 (note that there are several specialists in failed root canal repair just in this little town, failure is common). Tell them you can't settle while you're in the chair, you'll have SueGrabbit&Runne contact them. See if you can get them to cover the whole cost of the repairs.
