Bristol Cream sherry for me. Always nice before Turkey but we decided to go for Lamb Shanks this year. Not sure sherry will work.

Bloody Mary for me and perhaps a few large prawns on the side to nibble on.

Burgundy? The internet seems to think lighter with a variety of good local reddo.

It'll be Kim Crawford Pinot Noir with the lamb.

The sherry as an appetiser always seemed an integral part of the whole turkey and trimmings thing.

Heresy.

The nice LCBO lady cast a shadow over Xmas when she told me in October that there was no Croft Original in Ontario, and may not be any by Xmas.

At the risk of committing Heresy again, I had this once and it was an acceptable alternative to Bristol Cream. Not as sweet so maybe that might work if you can't get Croft.

Interesting that the NB liquor site calls it sherry while LCBO says fortified wine.

As you can see, I'm not an expert. :o

Thank you. I'll give it a try . (Only $9 in Ontario too :sneaky:)

If it's no good you can make trifle with it.

Have you tried a Negroni as an aperitif instead?

:)

Never heard of it but the ingredients sound okay, if a bit summery . Apart from needing a bottle of all three parts. We might have some gin left.

I keep Emu 999 on hand, and sometimes the Emu Cream, and it makes a nice gravy too.

Sherry is fortified wine

Don't. It's awful.

Just make a stiff dirty martini. Or an Aperol spritzer if you don't want to be too sloshed

I''m going to buy myself a bottle of this - it also goes down a treat with some whisky (whisky mac) on a cold winter day!
