Siskiyou Summit in Oregon on I-5 can have chains required periods where winter tires alone are not sufficient.
The summit is 1,310 meters. Can't predict the weather and my luck I would not have chains and they decide chains are required. So best to have them and not need them vs need them and not have. Its the highest pass in I-5 but the lower passes in California can have chains required periods as well. |

I miss the days of Christmas parties companies would do.

Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread
I woke just before 6.00 this morning and reached out to put CBC Radio on for the news, as I usually do when waking 'on the hour'.
On weekends and holidays it's some crappy music show (at least it's not all fiddle music anymore) but before I could turn off and go back to sleep they played back a Stuart McLean (now sadly no more) xmas tale. Christmas at the Turlingtons (with Dave and Morley - for a long time I thought he was saying Maura-Lee). Wonderful stuff. I love the way he tells you innocuous, trivial detail and then it turns out to be a key plot point. It really is laugh out loud funny (the stories) except just after 6.00 am I had to stifle it...with difficulty. Except for the part where an "oh no" slipped out. :o Here's part one with links to 2 and 3 on the youtube page. |

A Christmas miracle this morning going to work.
Left home at 3:58 and arrived at work at 4:12. I got every green light this morning, and I go through at least 20 or 30 of them. |

Expensive.
All in all though the prices at YVR for most of the places are on par with what the same place outside an airport would charge, seems YVR doesn't permit vendors to price gouge on food. |

I save 10% though... Well at a couple places I do, some of the vendors don't give staff discounts to airport workers.

That's good - Pearson is horrendously expensive. $10 for a sandwich.

That's what you'd pay for a decent sandwich in a cafe locally. Something pre-packed from a gas station is around $7
