Pretty random stuff they eat in some Canadian restaurants link in spoiler tag as it may upset some people, or even upset their stomachs.

If gas is 1.40 liter in January, I hate to see what the price will be this summer.

I mean, if he was called Harry Andrews at least he'd be spelling something funny.

Yesterday I ordered a new bedside clock/radio.

Can someone explain why it comes with a remote control? It's a bedside radio that I want to operate from my bed just to the side. Within arm's reach.

Why would I operate it remotely?

So you don't have to roll over if you're facing away from it.

Good point. I knew someone would have the answer.

I suppose it might be a laugh if it worked from the next room.

Probably can't see it JS, as it's on the BBC News, but they had snippet on Personality Disorder yesterday. They said it was the one condition that the NHS is seriously under-resourced on and that they want to improve that. Nevertheless, people here do seem to get seen within several
months. Hope you are doing ok in that regard. On the forum you seem to be at least.

I suppose work keeps me occupied...lol..

Bell Media has been running ads about mental health in part of their mental health day at the end of the month, and some of the ads are focusing on borderline specifically and the stigma attached. First time I have heard an actual ad specifically mention borderline, usually the focus is on depression, so it was a surprise.

Mental Healthcare in BC (and many other parts of Canada) are underfunded, and despite some recent increases in funding, it's still an underfunded system, so the money goes to easier to treat mental health issues, and medication treatment, BC is heavily dependent on medication to treat mental health issues, even though some mental health issues primary treatment doesn't call for medication.

I have largely given up trying to chase services that don't exist in the public system, and since we cannot afford private, no point in chasing that either as my extended health benefits only cover $300/year for mental health which is 1 session, so not of any help since it's 2 sessions per week for almost 6 months.

It is what it is, and maybe one day the healthcare system will catch up with reality and realize they are not using the correct treatments for many mental health issues.

Medication is the cheapest way to treat so that is what the government covers, but things like personality disorders are not treated primarily with medication as meds are of no use for the core issues, they just help with secondary issues like anxiety, but with correct treatment those secondary issues also tend to stabilize.

The providers mostly nurses are sympathetic, but they will openly say there is little that can be done, and few services they can refer borderline folks to.
