The father was physically stopping the attack on his daughter, and then was concerned the man was going to die before emergency services responded.

Slightly different situation to a revenge killing or the killing in cold blood of the death sentance dont you think?

So would it be ok if Jun Lin's parents pulled the switch on Magnotta?

On a side note that bampot Magnotta has pleased Not Guilty - no doubt by way of insanity, typical. He knew enough to know what he did was wrong and ran for the hills!
Maybe he didn't do it. Do you know that he did?

First hand, no but there "appears" to be evidence to "suggest" he did.

So he will get his day (well, months) in court, and a jury will decide based on the evidence presented.

Seems fair enough.

No doubt the media circus around the trial will be immense, and hes certainly going to have his 15 minutes of fame isnt he. Job done from his perspective? I wonder if it was worth it in his mind.

Job done indeed, clearly didn't mind getting caught as he even left his laptop with the "Uneditied" video on it of the "actual" killing in his apartment. Must be a tad of insanity in there as who in their right mind could commit such a crime? or just pure evil? I dunno, who knows what goes on in the mind of a sadistic killer.

Didn't say it wasn't, it was just a tangent article. I did not suggest the circumstances were similar just that it tied in with my posts a while back on 'what would you do' where Is aid I would kill them and expect to be dealt with by the authorities without state sponsored homicide.

Which is completely irrelevant: One's actions post event are irrelevant to show what one's state of mind was at the time of the event. I understand that this is what the prosecution will argue in the Breivik trial: he is sane now, but that doesn't mean he was sane at the time. I suspect the same will happen in this one.

None of which will stop endless internet debate

However..............there are bunch of grade 10 students and a teacher (almost sounds like the title of a snuff/porn movie alone) in Montreal that may be able to help.

Slightly different situation to a revenge killing
I'm on the fence about the difference. The dad could easily have just pulled the attacker off his poor daughter and held him there until police arrived to deal with him.

Instead he beat the shit out of him (well, enough to kill him) so to me that would imply revenge in that context.

I have no sympathy for the dead guy, i don't know the full details, but i would imagine the dad would have done the same had he got a hold of the attacker at a later stage (days or weeks later).

I guess this brings the whole reasonable force into it, as well as the courts and officials tolerance for public anger if the dad had been charged.

Either way, if the dead guy did what is reported, then good riddance.
